Extra-hardened steel for G-Shock's 40th Anniversary

G-Shock commemorates its 40th anniversary with an epic new interpretation on the very first G-Shock, the DW-5000, which debuted 40 years ago in April 1983. This limited-edition reference is clad in recrystallized and deep-layer hardened stainless steel, creating a striking new textured aesthetic for the rugged tool watch legend. 

Following recrystallization and deep-layer hardening, the bezel and band are also treated with titanium carbide (TiC) coating and the screw-lock case back with DLC coating for a bold, radiant look. In a special nod to the DW-5000, the dial features the phrase “SINCE 1983.”

The case back is engraved with the Eric Haze-designed 40th logo, and the lower left button is engraved with a star, for a timepiece that crystallizes the G-SHOCK 40th anniversary celebration.
