Class Description:

Block printing is one of the oldest types of printmaking and is also an excellent way to make something truly by hand that can also be easily replicated.

In this hands-on class, you'll learn how to plan a simple design and pattern, carve the rubber stamp block, and explore printing with ink on various paper materials, including greeting cards and a small notebook.

In this class you'll learn about:

• Designing your stamp, considering scale, color, and repeat patterns
• Transferring the design to the block, including the trick for reversing any lettering
• Carving the rubber block with practice time for the four different blades
• How to do test prints to refine your carving
• Printing on surfaces including paper, fabric, and wood
