It allows you to be versatile when using weight for snorkelling or diving. If you already have a belt and prefer having pre-strung belts for various dive situations or like having a spare, this traditional 2" (5cm) wide nylon webbing weight belt with corrosive resistant latch-style quick-release stainless steel buckle is what you need.  Using your own independent Weight Belt still remains more common than the use of Weight Integrated BCD's. 

OPINION : For travelling divers it is advisable to take your own belt - you know you'll have your own reliable weight belt and buckle set up.
